Loved it! Most of the accents are off, especially the black chicks, but other than that it was a good opening. Followed Harris' first book pretty close, with some special added touches. Most the casting is pretty good, cept black chick. She's a lil too strong. Tara in the book wasn't over the top. Mouthy and opinionated yes, annoying bitch, no. Liked there were subtle hints and winks to the book fans, but nothing that would make the new watcher go huh? Kinda wish I didn't know some of the stuff that's ahead because it will be fun for those that don't. Looking forward to next week!

I liked this ep more. I don't necessarily like the gimmick of ending each show on a cliffhanger and hope it goes away though. The chemistry between Sookie and Bill is pretty great, and as someone who knows nothing about the book, I found it surprising and particularly refreshing to see the brother get off the crime without a long drawn out thing that'll lead us to discover he didn't do it.

Clues! There are clues to what is to come. Oh now I'm okay with what I know, because I catch the clues! Like Ringy, I do love the chemistry between the two leads. There are some big differences in the book and the show. Tara wasn't in the first book at all. I'm still enjoying it, looking forward for more. MORE SAM!

I like how his penis is an eggplant! Are the books this smutty? 'Cause this is like vamp porn! Though the night club was great. It's also shocking to see the bartender sniffing the dead people's bed like some freak! At first I thought it was the brother (they look alike, I get them confused every single show) but the bartender being some sick fuck amuses me.

The books have a romantic bent with some sexual content, but this soft core porn stuff is purely Ball. And as far as the sniffing, it's significant. TGC has figured some of it out, let's see how long til you do.

Well, don't tell me if I'm right (just tell me if I'm horridly wrong), but I think he's a werewolf

. He had that weird scene with the dog and the way he was sniffing the bed seems to suggest that either he is the killer (not that fun a plot move) or he was trying to find out who the killer is, but couldn't 'cause vamps have no smell, and he got all horny and wacked out (wonderful plot move).
In any case, werewolf vs. vampire is like the horror movie cliches of horror movie cliches, so I wouldn't put it beyond them.

I wouldn't tell you anyway. I don't want to spoil your theories. I loved Jason's storyline though. I love seeing him brought to his knees and having to lean on Tara. The dollies for the drink thing had me rolling because I know people like that. In fact it's a white trash versios of my best friend. I swear to god on Independence Day she had red, white and blue drinks, in cups that matched, with little flag stirrers.

I like seeing Bill's past. It was fun. And it was well done. When I saw the woman, first thing I thought was "vampire". Then I though "no wait, she pulled a gun on him, vampire wouldn't need to" and for just the briefest of moments I came to the conclusion that she looked vaguely like Sookie and was thus Sookie's ancestor. But then she turned out to be a vamp

Also I want to try some V! Not for the eggplant penis though.

Oct 7 2008, 09:09 AM
V's effect on Jason reminds me of how people react on x. (the drug and not our X) Well.....all except for the sparkley pollenation thing with the magnolia trees or Tara as a mermaid, but the I can feel the sparks from you to the I LOVE YOU MAN, to the heighten desire, yep.......a lot like x.
Best part? Lafayette vamping at the rednecks then kicking their asses. "Everything here comes with AIDS!"

I can't believe this is the best new show of the year. I mean this show is fine. But in any other year, it's middle of the pack. 2008/09 is an epic fail.

But yes, this year is epic fail. Nothing offensively bad, but nothing wonderful.

They had sex! And it wasn't the crazy psycho fucking the others have! It was tender and loving!
Then he bit her

. I think it's just some vampire fun. Also that funeral was glorious.

They were perky.
I don't like this pairing up of Tara with Sam, there is something very contrived about it to me. I loved the funeral scene....Who hasn't wanted to yell "Just all of you shut the fuck up!" at a funeral? I'm sad Gran is gone, although I knew it was coming because I've read the books. I still have my fingers crossed that a certain vistor will come to Bon Temps in this vision of the story. I'll be all

Topless Liz Caplan!
That said they can't have killed Bill. That would ruin the whole point of the show

Lizzy Caplan needs to be topless in every show ever.

Naked again! Also Sookie seems to have become a fang banger, though Bill with the kids was awesome.

Did you clock Sam running naked through the field in the early morning on last week's episode?
Hunter Fallow
Oct 28 2008, 06:35 PM
I did though I was confused as to whether it was the brother or the bar owner 'cause I get them confused all the time
Lorelai Gilmore
Oct 29 2008, 11:36 AM
You're the second person to tell me that. I never get them confused.
And although I'm usually "YAY, Men Kissing!" that kiss between Layfette and the vamp was awkward. Seeing Stephen Root (loved me some NewsRadio) as a gay vamp just sorta surprised me.

I confuse them much like I confused Logan and the other guy on VM
Lorelai Gilmore
Oct 30 2008, 09:17 AM
Who did you confuse Logan with? And how the hell did you confuse Logan with anyone??? Logan was awesome, Logan was my reason for watching the show and when they pussified him, I cried..............oh how I cried until ass kicking Logan returned!

With Duncan! For like the first 4 or 5 episodes, when all he did was go up to Veronica, say something mean and walk away on a weekly basis, thankfully I wasn't the only one this happened to, so UPN decided to restrict them to certain colours so as not to confuse the audience!
Lorelai Gilmore
Oct 30 2008, 09:55 PM
I'm an unoriginal piece of shit! Duncan had dark hair and whined. How could you confuse the two?

Liz Caplan's character is wonderful. As is gay vampire Stephen Root.
Also I knew all along Sam was a werewolf! Well a dog, close enough
Lorelai Gilmore
Nov 4 2008, 03:13 PM
Sam is a shapeshifter! He doesn't just do dogs (and no not sexually you pervs) he does all sorts of things. And why in the world would Sookie get all pissy about Tara and Sam kissing? She want all the men to herself???
It's really cunt punt to see Stephen Root play a limp wristed vamp after his very macho portrayal of Jimmy James on NewsRadio.
Hunter Fallow
Nov 10 2008, 08:07 AM
Oh wow, Zeljko Ivanek (the Magistrate) plays another bad guy on TV. Is there a TV show where he hasn't played someone evil?!
Also this episode was wonderful, Bill being torn about the human was also good, though Sookie needs to stop being all

at Sam. He's wounded damn it. Also they killed gay vampire

mean!
And bih Tara
Lorelai Gilmore
Nov 12 2008, 10:22 AM

Can Jason forgive her?? Will Layfette kick Jason's redneck ass? Sookie all judgemental bout Sam.

She hides what she is from most people. She doesn't really discuss it with those close with her either. And the way she acted when he changed in front of her......like he had killed kittens with a George Foreman grill............she needs to get off her high horse! Poor Bill, poor Sam, poor gay vamp. Sookie and Tara need their asses kicked!
Hunter Fallow
Nov 17 2008, 07:27 PM

rip woman!
Also that lady with Tyra is totally a vamp. And Sookie needs to stop being such a bitch

Kind of odd ending. Not the whole bad guy thing, but the two weeks later was really odd. And I thought Bill died

! Wonderful!
Hunter Fallow

It lives again!
It was kind of wonderful how Sookie was all "oh I forgive you

" after Bill kills people

. Also what is going on with Lafayette?!
Lorelai Gilmore
Jun 16 2009, 11:35 AM
She's such a slut! She makes a stand, he unbuckles his belt and she just gives in. Wait..........OHHHH I understand now.
I'm hoping they are planning to give Terry and Hoyt more story line this time around. I'm thinking Terry is going to end up with Arlene. This show is incredibly fetishized........from Sam rolling around in the dead girl's bed......to Terry sniffing Arlene's hair.
Poor LaFayette! He's being held by the vampire sherrif because of Eddie's death! Does this mean that Eric will have to go after Jason? Or will he be satisfied that Amy died??? Will Sookie have to do more favors in exchange for her brother's life??? Oh the possibilites!!!
Oh and Eric having his roots touched up made me giggle. Also, "I let my bunkmate blow me at summer camp."
Lorelai Gilmore
Jun 23 2009, 11:52 AM
LaFayette nawing on that leg.........ugghhhhhh!!!! I like the teenage vampire.......I can imagine all sorts of hijinx involving her. Best line..........Do I have blood in my hair? Pam is going to kill me.
And then Eric walking up with his new hair cut and Bill telling him he liked it and that saleslady concluding that Bill's rejection was because he is gay............wonderful.
Hunter Fallow
Jun 23 2009, 06:36 PM
I wonder if Lafayette will really turn into a vamp. Also, Sookie is growing dumber and dumber, but hey, it's still fun!
Lorelai Gilmore
Jun 23 2009, 07:02 PM
I dunno.......Eric said "It's chow time!" I don't think he would let others feed on him if he was going to change him......but I'll guess we'll see.

Do you really want me to tell you? It will spoil the surprise. I'm so sick of Bill I could scream. He does not appeal to me at all. In my view he is just weak.
Waiting to watch last night's ep tonight. I'll not check back here until I do, to avoid spoilers.

Iffy episode after the week or two off, but iffy True Blood is better than no True Blood at all. Funnier than usual though, at least to me. I liked Bill's line to Hoyt at the beginning of the episode that he was going to throw him out, through the window, with it closed. Jason's line about Europe was greatness as well.
All in all, it was slow but I'm sure it'll pick up/more people will die soon.

I like the multiple fucking/torture/death? scenes at the ending. Also, the new vamp girl torturing the guy from Breaking Bad is fantastic.
Lorelai Gilmore
Jul 16 2009, 09:24 AM
Eric makes me laugh. I'm glad he's not a Mary like Bill is. I love my vampires bad, not tortured. I loved the interaction between Eric and Lafayette. Even though Lafayette died in the book, I'm glad they have kept him around, because his character is one of my favorites on the show. I've decided I'm gonna start calling my female friends 'hooker' from now on.
Sookie meeting Barry can be fun. I love the little mind conversation they had and neither knew the other could read minds at first. I busted a gut when Jessica couldn't get out of the coffin and at what she did to the driver in the hotel lobby. She's a welcome addition to the Sookie Stackhouse universe. The Jason storyline is boring me tho. *yawn*
